“Sitting frustrated and unable to focus in English class, I was trying to understand a passage from a book. I was feeling really scattered. However, I would say ‘HOCUS POCUS NOW FOCUS’ and learned how to comprehend the text.”
“My classmates would tie their shoelaces with ease, but I had to wear velcro shoes because I couldn’t figure it out on my own. This made me feel like a complete failure. However, I would tell myself ‘DUMP THE SLUMP’ and learned how to tie my shoes with my own unique method.“
“I struggled in Algebra class and had to expend much more energy than the other students to solve the simplest math equations. This stressed me out and caused a real distaste for math. I told myself to ‘REGRESS THE STRESS’ and now think about math problems in a different way.”
“As I watched my twin sister accomplish a new kiteboarding trick, I would compare my abilities to hers, which made me question my worth. However, I’d tell myself ‘DARE TO NOT COMPARE’ and went on my own kiteboarding journey. I finally learned to ride a few years ago. Fortitude!“
